"A must-read for anyone seeking to understand India and its place in the tech world"

- Nandan Nilekani, chairman & co-founder, Infosys, and founding chairman, UIDAI

"I've been in Bengaluru all my life, and I've seen it transform from a sleepy city to a global tech and startup hub. This book succintly captures the amazing journey of Namma Bengaluru through beautiful stories. Everybody should know this story of Bengaluru, and this is the definitive book that tells the story."

- Nithin Kamath

In Unboxing Bengaluru—the first ever deep-dive into the city—Malini Goyal and Prashanth Prakash ably unravel the city’s journey, and the ensuing social, behavioural, technological and consumptive changes. They look at why people are drawn to the city; how the cosmopolitan culture and multi-linguistic society gives it a distinct flavour; the parallel economies that have cropped up; how the influx of young workers have changed the city; and the fault-lines of unplanned and poorly managed growth over the decades.

Richly researched and vividly written, Unboxing Bengaluru is filled with absorbing vignettes, extensive reportage, and solid data.

Prashanth Prakash

Prashanth Prakash is a founding partner of the global venture capital firm Accel Partners in India and the co-founder of UnboxingBLR Foundation. He began his career as an entrepreneur in the 1990s, and since 2004, he has played a key role as a venture capitalist in nurturing Bengaluru’s―and India’s―startup landscape.

Accel in India has had a foundational role in shaping some of the most successful and category-defining startups in India, including Flipkart, Ola, Freshworks, Swiggy and BookMyShow.
